ADA Compliant Tactile Braille Exit Signage
ADA Signs are the architectural signage required by the Americans With Disabilities Act. There are a lot of requirements in this act.
One of the many are the requirement for specific Exit routes and signs for the exits. Exit Signs are the signs on all public use buildings. New construction needs a fire inspection and the exit signs are one of the main requirements. At Carlsbad Signs we make ADA signs. These are installed in the correct conveniently located places and are easy to read for both the reader with disabilities and the rest of us.

Exit Signs are Important
Often overlooked there is a reason why they are important and you should make sure yours are perfect.
If there is a fire failure to provide the fast organized pathway to the door could kill somebody. That is the design and placement goal of the Exit Sign – the most efficient, direct path out. The regulations and the approval of the fire authority in new construction is required. Knowing what is required and how to install it is the key. Carlsbad Signs is the expert that can help with both
The path and Latch Side
The path for the exit is the location where Exit Route signs are required.
These are hallways, corridors and the path to the correct doors in larger rooms (like auditoriums, gymnasiums, cafeterias and more. These signs direct the crowd to the closest exit. The use of arrows is common. The text is Braille and a raised text that can be felt and seen. These are all at the same, legally specified height. For the doors, the signs are mounted on wall on the latch side of the door. There are specific type and locations for each situation.
Pictograms
A Pictogram is a stylize and standardized image with a specific meaning. Often it is a shape representing the actual object it is used to mark, like a phone, a man, a woman, a staircase. The most common pictograms is for a wheelchair. And restrooms.
Specialized Equipment
At Carlsbad Signs we use our Gravo graph IS8000 router engraver all day, every day. We can cut out the raised letters and pictograms one sees on every ADA sign.
The same machine drills the holes for the braille bumps. You might not be away that there is a special ball, called a raster ball, that is forced into a small hole to make those bumps.
